RED TEMPLATES

What Are Red Templates?

Some Purely Parchment Craft projects use red in the template as well as the usual black out line.

Why Use Red in Templates?

The red parts of the templates are there to guide you when embossing feathers or fur, helping you to achieve the most realistic image possible. They do this by showing several things such as fur direction, fur density and hair length. All of these thing would be extremely difficult to describe in words so instead they put on to the template itself in red.

How to Use Red Templates.

The project you are working on will have specific instructions on how to use the red parts of your template, including which tool to use and advise of what effect you are trying to achieve.

The squirrel above is an example of a red template showing how the fur is to be embossed. The red helps you to see how the fur is denser on the back than the belly and the also how the direction of the fur curves over the face and down the back. To explain this without the template would be difficult and would still not achieve the easily understood results of the template, this is why the red templates are used.

It is always advised that you try any new techniques on a spare piece of parchment before using it on your project.
